Among her mentors were Helmut Lachenmann and Wolfgang Rihm. Her music has been commissioned by the Lucerne Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Swedish Radio Choir, the Ensemble intercontemporain and the Shizuoka Concert Hall, and performed by the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Orchestra. Her numerous accolades include the Villa Massimo Rome Prize and the Ernst von Siemens Composers' Prize. In 2020 she became the first recipient of the Claussen Simon Composition Prize. This was followed by the Heidelberg Women Artists' Prize in 2022 and the Hindemith Prize in 2024. Lisa Streich lives on Gotland and is deeply interested in the dialogue between music and art and the possibilities this dialogue opens up. In her work, she explores the human and the imperfect, alongside the beautiful and the transcendent. Yet her music remains deeply rooted in musical history, it's sound world imbued with a sense of tragedy and a heart-rending melancholy.Lisa Streich's trumpet concerto Meduse (Medusa) was commissioned in 2024 by the Konserthuset Stockholm / Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Lucerne Festival, and L'Auditori / Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya. It received it's world premiere in Stockholm on April 11, 2024, with Lucas Lipari-Mayer (trumpet) and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Ilan Volkov. In her trumpet concerto, the two extremes that give Lisa Streich's personal language it's distinctive character collide with almost tectonic force: on the one hand, a gossamer-like fragility in the sound textures, often incorporating nuanced timbres, and on the other, a tutti sound that is vehement, often strident and occasionally almost violent. This contrast highlights the ambivalent relationship between beauty and violence in Streich's treatment of the underlying material. The subtitle 'Elle est belle et elle rit' ('She is beautiful and she laughs') points to an interpretation of the mythological figure of Medusa that moves beyond the stereotypical portrayal of her as a monster who destroys men. Inspired by Helene Cixous's essay The Laugh of the Medusa, a classic of feminist literature published in 1975, Lisa Streich sets out to reinterpret the figure of Medusa by returning to the origins of the myth. It is only in Ovid's account that she is transformed from victim to perpetrator. The piano concerto Black Swan was commissioned in 2025 by musica viva of Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Kansas City Symphony. It received it's world premiere in Kansas City on January 30, 2026, with Tamara Stefanovich as soloist and the Kansas City Symphony conducted by Matthias Pintscher. The title of Streich's piano concerto refers to the Australian black swan (Cygnus atratus), also known as the mourning swan. The work is dedicated to Tamara Stefanovich, who gave it's world premiere; both her personality and her distinctive abilities helped inspire the composer to choose the title. The concerto also explores a relatively simple form of virtuosity, in which virtuoso gesture ultimately becomes an empty gesture in it's own right. Above all, however, the work focuses on the interplay between piano and orchestra, which take turns asserting their dynamic presence.Jubelhemd - Concerto Grosso for trumpet, percussion, harp, viola and orchestra - was commissioned in 2021 by the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Malmo Symphony Orchestra to mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and received it's world premiere on October 7, 2021, at de Geerhallen in Norrkoping, with Elias Svanberg (trumpet), Martin Orraryd (percussion), Delphine Constantin Reznik (harp), Crista Kende Bergendahl (viola) and the Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Fredrik Burstedt. The title refers to the Austrian artist Markus Schinwald's work Jubelhemd ('Jubilation Shirt'), a white shirt with it's sleeves sewn on the wrong way round - that is, pointing upwards. Anyone wearing it would thus be forced to keep their arms raised at all times: a physical constraint that turns jubilation into a compulsory act. Streich first encountered Schinwald's Jubelhemd while working on the composition. She felt that it symbolized her own emotional state as she faced the task of writing music for a cheerful, celebratory occasion. This constraint, which can feel almost coercive and which Streich had originally intended to ignore, became the central theme of the composition, which explores the problem of enforced jubilation.

UPC: 4035719006537
Label: Br Klassiks
Release Date: 1.15.27
Format: CD
