Aurat is a Los Angeles-based band that bridges cultural identity with an experimental alternative sound. Named after the Urdu word for woman, the band blends together many genres (fans have mentioned genres like)/ gothic rock, EBM, coldwave, and post-punk with lyrics sung primarily in Urdu. One of the few bands in the global scene to fuse South Asian language and identity with the sonic traditions of the underground, Aurat creates music that is both deeply personal and unmistakably their own. Aurat crafts immersive sounds that explore themes of grief, identity, transformation, love,and resilience.
