Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741) was one of the most influential composers of the Baroque period. Born in Venice, Italy, he was a priest, violinist, and composer whose music had a lasting impact on the development of the concerto. Vivaldi is best known for his collection of violin concertos called The Four Seasons, but he also composed many remarkable concertos for wind instruments.During the Baroque era, wind instruments were becoming increasingly popular, and Vivaldi played an important role in expanding their musical possibilities. He wrote concertos for instruments such as the flute, recorder, oboe, bassoon, and horn.
