Common Tribe’s forthcoming LP, Whiskey on the Moon, is his strongest work to date. His Thirty Tigers debut finds Tribe (born Jeremiah Livingston) pulling from an eclectic palette of sounds, from the country radio–ready “Wrong Things” to the bluesy “Her Waters.” Across the album, Tribe explores themes ranging from the state of America and off-the-grid living to the power of family, all while leaning into his outlaw roots—most notably on the cannabis-friendly “Cigarettes and Weed.” That spirit continues on the standout “Place of My Own,” an ode to self-sufficiency and providing for his family. On the mid-tempo ballad “Can I Get a Light,” he taps into the struggles facing working-class Americans today—a thread that runs throughout the project. With Whiskey on the Moon, Common Tribe deepens his songcraft on ballads like “Place of My Own,” “Circles,” and “Lifeboat.” Tracks such as “Throat and Lungs,” “Whiskey on the Moon,” and “Gypsy Child” showcase his take on country-rock anthems, while “In the Woods” explores a bluegrass–hip-hop hybrid featuring rappers J. Michael Phillips and Jam Wayne. That fusion continues on “Love and Lust,” with Bryze 501 delivering a rap verse over a gospel-blues trap backdrop, culminating in the album’s closer, the hip-hop–tinged country-blues track “Screamin Loud.” Whiskey on the Moon is a bold, personal statement—the record Common Tribe has been building toward his entire life.
