This lovely 10th anniversary reissue of perhaps her finest and most beloved record Empire Builder is pressed on colored vinyl and includes new liner notes by Gibson herself.Empire Builder is the name of the train that took Gibson from Portland, OR to NYC - where her life was promptly thrown into disarray following a gas explosion and ensuing apartment fire that took nearly all her possessions.The move and that terrifying experience became the catalyst for a huge leap forward for Gibson as a songwriter, composer, producer, and bandleader. The album features many of her most-streamed songs ("Damn Sure," "Two Kids," and the title track among them) and the talents of a stellar group of collaborators: Dave Depper (Death Cab for Cutie), Dan Hunt (Neko Case), Peter Broderick, Nate Query (The Decemberists) and Alela Diane.
